2024 General Election Endorsements

As part of our collective work to build power for members’ issues, UAW members have spent months vetting candidates and initiatives to endorse those that will best enable us to advance a pro-worker agenda – including on issues of economic justice, reproductive rights, social justice, climate justice, and more. Endorsements for the city, county, and state-level candidates and initiatives below were decided by UAW members who live in each area.

For each race and initiative, members thoroughly vetted the options – including by reviewing candidate questionnaires, conducting interviews, discussing alignment with our values, assessing strategic priorities for being able to pass pro-worker legislation – and submitted recommendations to Western States CAP/PAC Council. Western States is an elected body of UAW Region 6 members that holds monthly meetings, open to all members, to coordinate a strategic political program across the Region. Western States discussed each recommendation and voted to make endorsements.

For the Presidential race, the UAW International Executive Board sought feedback from every CAP/PAC Council in the country, including our own Western States, which held an open meeting with 100s of members. Based on the feedback shared from all the CAP/PAC Councils, the IEB voted to endorse the Harris/Walz ticket.
