POLITICAL ACTION
Building Worker Power Post-Election
In Fall 2024, UAW Region 6 members launched a political program at an unprecedented scale, and won many priority races as a result. However, the Trump administration is already working to fulfill campaign promises to center the interests of billionaires while sidelining working people and attempting to divide workers — including by leveling day 1 attacks on immigrants, trans people, climate justice, and more. At the 2025 Region 6 Leadership Conference (January 10-12 in Pico Rivera, CA), members from across the Region will come together to discuss what the current moment means for us as a labor movement, reflect on lessons from past work, and coordinate around concrete strategies for building power to both defend and expand workers’ rights in the coming 4 years.
Ways UAW members can plug in today:
Join monthly Region 6 Political Action Committee meetings (third Thursdays at 6pm via zoom - RSVP here)
Join sub-regional political working groups to help drive political action at the state & local levels - RSVP here

As a union, UAW members have always been invested in fighting for a more just future for all working people — both in our workplaces and beyond.
In Region 6, workers are building political power on many fronts. Currently over 80,000 workers are organizing new unions in our region to gain a stronger voice in the workplace and in society. Union members are organizing in support of pro-worker legislation and candidates at local, state, and federal levels during and beyond this election cycle. And together we are building a broad working class movement to realize our vision for social, economic, and climate justice.
Members of Region 6 have organized strategic political action to create more leverage to win organizing drives and strong contracts, and to advance the social and economic justice issues of our time. At the same time, members have also seen how political forces can create serious obstacles when politicians do not feel accountable to working people.
Region 6 members are taking this moment as a critical opportunity to build a renewed, fighting labor movement to win a system that prioritizes the needs of working people — including by taking bold political action.
Across sectors and states, more and more workers are refusing to accept the current broken system — one where ultra-wealthy CEOs and administrators amass millions of dollars and spend public money on war abroad, while working people struggle to get by.
As with everything we do as a union, our power to advance a bold progressive political agenda is only as strong as member participation. There are many ways you can get involved at the Local & Regional levels — fill out the form below to get connected.
