Election Day! Track Region 6 Results, Next Steps

Dear UAW Sibling,

After months of organizing, Election Day is now here. If you haven’t already voted, don’t forget to get your ballot in! You can find the Region 6 voter guide for your area here. While it will likely take time to finalize the official election results, one thing is clear – UAW members in Region 6 have put in an unprecedented effort to mobilize our communities about electing candidates and passing initiatives that will build power for workers’ issues, including by making more than 1 million contacts with voters.

If previous elections are any indication, it will likely take at least several days to finalize election results for all federal, state, and local elections while ballots are counted. If particular races are especially close, different counties & states may also go through required recounts to ensure the results are accurate.

Given Trump’s actions after the 2020 election as well as some of his recent comments, there is some concern that he may again try to interfere with the democratic process and contest the results of the election in unlawful and illegitimate ways if he does not win. Hopefully we won’t see issues, but Region 6 members are prepared to take action if needed to respond to such threats and to protect democratic norms and laws involving elections. If you’d like to be involved in any such actions, fill out this form.

Some key action steps and resources:

  • Region 6 results tracker: Want to follow along as results are finalized? Click here for a tracker of candidates & initiatives Region 6 members got out the vote for through canvassing, phone banking, or texting. This will be updated periodically as results are announced.

  • Meeting to discuss next steps: However the results turn out, all members are encouraged to join the next Region 6 CAP/PAC (the political action committee for the Region) meeting, November 16 at 10am via zoom, to talk about how we’re going to build on these election results to create a more just & democratic world for all working people.
